FUN, TEAM BUIlDING, AND MORE FUN!
Richard Lukwago Senjakko
It is generally accepted that in any
organization or workplace, more is achieved
when all members contribute to the goals/
workload as a team. It has been proven that
dedicated employees contribute better if they
are happy and motivated. More and more
employers are therefore working at having a
team of motivated employees.
Initially, each end of year at MUWRP was
celebrated with a staff party. Management
soon realized this was not enough to build
team spirit and came up with the idea of a
Team Building and Staff Motivation Event as
a replacement. These events are characterized by competitive activities, such as sports, done
in teams meant to encourage teamwork.
Fun games are also included to break the
monotony and awards given to exemplary
employees. This is aimed at increasing staff
interaction, relaxation, motivation, team
building and generally having fun.
On 14th December 2007, MUWRP staff
congregated at Ranch on the lake for
another such event. The staff was divided
into four teams named after the African
rivers limpopo, Zambezi, Nile and Congo.
Competitive activities included lawn tennis,
volleyball and an exciting football match
between Kayunga and Kampala staff. There
were also quizzes, brainteasers, treasure
hunting, fishing and canoeing. Mr Martin
lwanga, a motivational speaker, gave staff tips
on how to motivate themselves both at work
and in their homes. By the end of the day,
staff felt more at ease with each other, after
sharing so much fun.
